Salary Rate: $42,000 - $43,000
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The ACT/OTP Counselor is responsible for counseling students in all aspects of center life, e.g. personal and social development, vocational and educational training.
- Monitors students' progress, performance, and attendance for off-center trades.
- Obtains Training Achievement Records and Progress and Performance Reports from Off-center training sites.
- The ACT/OTP Counselor assesses and evaluates continuously those students assigned to them on both formal and informal levels. Provide assistance to students in continuing their education or entering into additional training; and in connecting with community services necessary for successful transition from school to work.
- Assists students in setting short and long-term goals, identifying strengths and career challenges and resolution of personal issues affecting career readiness.
- Submits written student reports/evaluations as needed to outside agencies, referrals to Mental Health Consultant, Review Boards, or at the Center Director's request.
- Monitors each class on a weekly basis, conferring with instructors, counselors, and administrators as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, including 15 semester hours of Social Sciences or related area. One-year experience in a counseling capacity or related field.
- Job Corps experience preferred.
- Valid State driver's license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record preferred.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.
