Salary: $95,000 to $105,000
Position Concept
To provide supervision and direction for the daily operating functions and policies and procedures related to the accounting department.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for month-end and year-end closing of the general ledger system, which includes preparation, review, and distribution of financial statements and reports. Review financial reports for discrepancies and/or inconsistencies; research and resolve any related issues.
- Preparation of entries related to the month end closing process.
- System administrator for the accounting software which includes adding new users, maintaining the chart of accounts and preparing financial reports in the software.
- Supervise accounting staff in the preparation of all monthly account reconciliations and reviewing these reconciliations for appropriateness and accuracy of accounting entries.
- Supervise accounting staff in the maintenance of all vendors in the accounting software and preparation of 1099's annually.
- Responsible for the administration and maintenance of all bank accounts.
- Prepare schedules for year-end audit and work with auditors as needed to answer questions and obtain requested documentation.
- Responsible for oversight of the fixed assets including approval of capital purchases, tracking of the capital budget and review of monthly reconciliations.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities. Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
Position Specifications
Education: Bachelor's degree, from an accredited College or University, in Accounting required.
Experience: Seven to ten years accounting experience in an accounting environment. Three to five years of supervisory experience required.
Skills: Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal; to assume responsibility without direct supervision; to exercise initiative, judgment, decision making, and flexibility; to listen empathetically, and to prioritize workload. General office skills include computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and accounting software (preferably Great Plains). Ability to effectively operate office equipment, read and write reports, correspondence, instructions, etc. Ability to proficiently interact and communicate effectively by phone, or by email in an efficient, effective, and courteous manner. Capable of functioning at a fast pace and maintain accuracy and organization while doing so.
Other: Must interface effectively at all organizational levels; commitment to professional standards and personal development. Must successfully pass a background screening process, including, but not limited to, state, local, and funder criminal background check requirements. Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
Travel: Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd Connects' Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Must have and maintain an appropriate and valid state driver's license.
Physical Demands: Ability to sit at desk for extended periods of time and to tolerate extended periods of data entry. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Tasks may require extensive computer screen exposure. Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
