Duties & Responsibilities
- The Work Readiness Instructor provides program specific training to participants with a primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. Instructor is responsible for adhering to the prescribed, authorized lesson plan and providing an environment conducive to the learning experience, including supervision of participants and assessment of participant skill levels in order to assist them with reaching their full potential and achieving goals.
- The incumbent will provide Work Readiness Training through a variety of learning styles that are self-paced and self-directed, presenting information to participants in a clear, effective fashion using a variety of teaching aids. She/he will address questions or concerns and utilize training and instructional methods that reinforce learning.
- The instructor will utilize effective classroom management skills; assist, advise, and counsel a diverse participant population with regard to program policies and standards while demonstrating sensitivity to participant needs and circumstances; and performs routine follow-up with participants as it relates to education and employment.
- This position is responsible for administering workshops and providing participants with the necessary program information, i.e., enrollment packets, curriculum information, etc.; additionally, he/she may supervise participants during the work-based projects or work experience activities and, in some instances, be required to attend training on counseling techniques to further assist the participant population.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Associate's Degree in a related field; or Related Bachelor's Degree (preferred). May substitute 3 years of related work experience if no minimum degree.
- Past experience working with the targeted population and 3+ years relevant work experience preferred. Experience working in Special Education or with individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Must have the ability to efficiently manage a large participant caseload (Active and Follow- up) in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and or experience with classroom management techniques.
- Must have appropriate and valid state driver's license and be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.
- Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy. Eckerd Connects adheres to California law CA A.B. 2188 regarding employer drug screening, for California residents.

Eckerd Connects provides Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services through contracts with the U.S. Department of Labor and local workforce boards, partnerships, and strategies to provide and create a career pathway for youth, adults, and dislocated workers. Training services include occupational skills training, customized training, on-the-job training, incumbent worker training, and transitional employment opportunities. We provide youth with development, academic instruction, career & technical education, and access to the 14 WIOA Youth Elements. We establish and develop relationships and networks with large and small employers and their intermediaries as well as develop, convene, or implement industry or sector partnerships.
