Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Food and Nutrition, manages and coordinates all food production activities including food storage, food ordering and inventory control. Functions as an active member of the department's managerial team. Must be able to function independently. Demonstrates by example and nurtures in staff the standards of Service Excellence so that these standards represent minimum accepted behavior.

9:00am-5:00pm, 7:00am-3:00pm, 11:00am-7:00pm, 6:00am-2:00pm. Weekend rotation required.

 

Job Essentials: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.

  • Lead and participate in daily food production for patients, cafeteria, and catering, ensuring timely, high-quality output that meets established standards.
  • Supervise and support food service staff, including cooks and storeroom personnel, while managing schedules, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate on menu planning, recipe development, and product evaluation to enhance food offerings and maintain consistency across all services.
  • Maintain food storage areas and uphold sanitation standards, assisting in cleaning programs and overseeing catered event setup and breakdown.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, management, and vendors, resolving food-related concerns and promoting service excellence at all times.

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved Culinary Institute or approved Chef's School. 
  • Four or more years of related experience in a health care setting with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to organize people and materials.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Must have knowledge of kitchen cleaning and sanitation.
  • Must be able to communicate with all dietary personnel, hospital employees and maintenance. 

 

Englewood Health job postings provide a minimum rate to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources.
