Job Summary
The Physician Assistant functions in a medical support role to the physician in the provision of medical care and works under the direction, supervision, and responsibility of an attending vascular surgeon. Appointment of Physician Assistants and the duties and responsibilities approved for each appointee are governed by the pertinent sections of the Public Health Law; the Education Law; the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules, and Regulations of the State of New Jersey; Hospital and Medical Staff Bylaws; and the policies, rules, and regulations of Englewood Health.
The duties for the Physician Assistant differ according to assigned areas within the Vascular Surgery department and may include outpatient clinic, inpatient vascular surgery service, wound care, and evening coverage. The PA plays a critical role in ensuring timely, accessible, and coordinated vascular care. This temporary position supports continuity of operations across Englewood Health's expanding vascular surgery footprint.
Job Essentials:
Clinical Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative evaluations for vascular surgery patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Conduct focused physical exams, wound assessments, graft and access site evaluations

Assist with office-based procedures such as suture/staple removal, wound care, dressing changes, and minor interventions.

Participate in patient triage, review imaging, labs, and consults, and escalate urgent findings appropriately.

Provide clinical documentation in Epic in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate care with vascular surgery, wound care, vascular lab, podiatry, and interdisciplinary teams.
Inpatient and Perioperative Support

Perform daily rounds on vascular surgery inpatients, document progress notes, and assist with ongoing care plans.

Facilitate discharge planning, including prescriptions, follow-up scheduling, patient education, and communication with care managers.
Program & Operations Support

Support data collection and quality initiatives for vascular programs including AAA screening, carotid disease management, peripheral arterial disease pathways, venous insufficiency, wound care, and dialysis access.

Participate in workflow improvements to enhance efficiency across multi-site vascular practices.

Provide coverage during periods of increased clinical demand or provider transition.

Must possess skillful hands, be able to concentrate for long periods of time, work well under stress, and react quickly in emergencies.

Requires strong analytical skills and knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and vascular disease processes.

Passed the national certifying exam administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Education Requirements

Graduate of an approved PA program with a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
License/Certification/Registry

Current New Jersey license as a Physician Assistant.

- BLS and ACLS required

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources.
Minimum rate: $130,000 annual
