The Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting is responsible for a combination of external reporting and technical accounting activities for Enterprise Products Partners L.P. This role requires a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including the ability to independently research, evaluate, and document accounting conclusions for complex or non‑routine transactions. The position supports the preparation of the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings, including financial statement components, disclosures, and related technical accounting documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
SEC Reporting & External Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review components of SEC filings for Enterprise Products Partners L.P., including Forms 8‑K, 10‑Q, and 10‑K, along with supporting schedules, tie‑outs, and documentation
- Prepare financial statements and related disclosures for joint ventures and other privately held entities
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial statements and footnote disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
- Support internal audit and external audit processes by preparing and organizing supporting documentation and analyses through designated internal contacts
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reporting materials for senior management and other internal stakeholders
Technical Accounting & Analysis
- Independently research and evaluate accounting treatment for complex or non‑routine transactions under U.S. GAAP and Company accounting policies
- Prepare clear, well‑supported technical accounting memoranda documenting conclusions, judgment areas, assumptions, and relevant authoritative guidance
- Evaluate accounting implications related to acquisitions, dispositions, contract modifications, leases, impairments, and other judgmental areas
- Perform and document impairment analyses for long‑lived assets and other asset groups, as needed
- Support the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards, including impact assessments and disclosure considerations
Review, Controls & Process Improvement
- Perform detailed peer reviews of work prepared by others within the department to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal policies and reporting requirements
- Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of financial reporting and technical accounting processes, documentation standards, and templates
- Support SOX compliance by ensuring appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained over assigned processes
Requirements
The minimum qualifications for this senior accountant position are outlined below:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to SEC reporting and/or external financial reporting
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including the ability to research and apply accounting guidance to complex or non‑routine transactions
- Experience performing accounting research and preparing clear, well‑supported technical accounting memoranda or position papers
- Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills
- High attention to detail, with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and professional judgment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced reporting environment
- Willingness to work moderate overtime during quarterly and annual reporting cycles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred:
- CPA license
- Public accounting experience (Big Four or national firm preferred)
- Prior experience preparing or supporting SEC filings (Forms 10‑Q, 10‑K, and/or 8‑K) and/or financial statements and disclosures for joint ventures or privately held entities
- Experience with accounting areas involving significant judgment, such as impairments or acquisitions
- Experience with AI-enabled or data analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx, Copilot) and reporting systems or tools (e.g., SmartView, Workiva)
- Experience supporting the implementation or adoption of new accounting standards
