First Student is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator I to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing, with key responsibilities including:- Managing union dues
- Processing garnishments
- Ensuring payroll accuracy
- Entry and review of payroll data, employee maintenance, and tax information.
- Coordinating with HR and unions for accurate employee updates.
- Supporting Payroll Specialists in processing payrolls and reconciling data.
- Auditing payroll data and ensuring accuracy before payroll execution.
- Handling manual checks, banking submissions, and special reports.
- Running payroll reports, assisting with W-2 reconciliation, and addressing payroll inquiries via customer service.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's Degree (or equivalent) preferred
Minimum Experience or Skills Required
- 1 year experience in Payroll with Customer Service or H.R. background
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge of computerized time & attendance and payroll processing systems. Workday experience a plus, but not required.
- Good oral and written communication skills required
- Good customer service skills
- Strong ability to follow instructions
- Well organized, solid work ethic
