To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Sr. Manager Business Excellence  located in Milpitas, California US.

As the Sr. Manager, Business Excellence for the Milpitas Campus, reporting to the Director of Operational Engineering, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining systems that enhance the Continuous Improvement Maturity Score across the organization. You will mentor and guide by example, lead impactful CI activities, and train and develop internal talent in IE and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. You will also manage the financials of CI projects, including investment planning, ROI analysis, and cost savings tracking.


You will be a strong technical leader who supports innovation through strategic proposals and business justifications, challenging the status quo and driving transformation.

This includes:

  • Complying with Flex Master Data Management (MDM) standards.
  • Support to develop processes to maintain standard times for all products and operations in StaTiS, and leveraging BaaN (Infor-LN) routing functionality.
  • Implementing Global Standard Processes (GSPs) and driving automation penetration.
  • Supporting the rollout of Flex's Global Operations Process and Standards Governance Model.
  • Supporting initiatives in: Direct Labor Performance & Planning Standard Time Maintenance & ERP Routing Downtime Management Work Measurement Shop Floor Management

What a Typical Day Looks Like:

  • Champion Lean-Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement (CI) strategy to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and enhance value creation.
  • Lead strategic automation and digitalization initiatives to transform manufacturing processes.
  • Champion Kaizen events, VSM workshops, and Small Group Activities to drive operational excellence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Materials, Finance, and Operations to identify and implement impactful improvements.
  • Develop and deploy visual management systems and standard work practices to sustain gains and promote transparency.
  • Conduct Lean and Industrial Engineering training to build CI capabilities across teams.
  • Perform Lean Maturity Assessments and lead gap-closing initiatives across operations, supply chain, and office functions.
  • Influence and align stakeholders across all levels to support change management and cultural transformation.
  • Drive Yoko ten (horizontal deployment) of best practices across the site and broader organization.
  • Partner with Advanced Manufacturing and Business Process teams to integrate smart technologies and global standards.

The Experience We're Looking to Add to Our Team:
 

We're looking for a high-impact leader with deep technical expertise and a proven ability to drive operational transformation. This individual will bring a strategic mindset, hands-on experience, and a passion for challenging conventional thinking to deliver measurable improvements across manufacturing operations.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment, with senior responsibilities in Continuous Improvement, Quality (NPI, Customer, Process & Supplier Management) , Manufacturing (Automation - Mfg. process Design), Industrial Engineering, and/or Operations.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required; Master Black Belt preferred.
  • Proven track record in automation deployment, digitalization, and Lean Six Sigma transformation.
  • Strong background in materials management, finance, mechanical design, and visual management systems.
  • Engineering degree required; Industrial Engineering highly preferred.
  • Deep expertise in applying Lean principles in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to challenge the status quo and propose bold, data-driven solutions.
  • Strong statistical background, including proficiency in MSA, DOE, SPC, Regression Analysis, and other advanced analytical tools.
  • Deep knowledge of AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
  • Experience working in ISO 9001 environments, with exposure to medical and automotive industry standards and requirements.
  • Proficient in tools such as Minitab, and familiar with KPI development across Tier 1–3 levels.
  • Hands-on experience with FlexSim, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks to support simulation, layout design, and mechanical analysis.
  • Proficient in project management, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives aligned with business and customer goals.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain operations, warehouse management, WIP management, and inventory control systems.
  • Deep understanding of CQI-8, CQI-10, CQI-14, and CQI-19, Risk Assessment Management, BIQs (Built-In Quality Systems), Project Transfer, and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to influence across all levels of the organization.
