The Systems Engineer will be based in Farmington Hills, MI, reporting to the Design System Engineering Manager. This role will be accountable for designing, defining, and implementing system requirements for complex customer systems/products and/or preparing studies and researching existing systems prior to the transition to manufacturing for new product introduction.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Defines system specifications, coordinates subsystem design, and integrates total systems to ensure hardware/software/mechanical compatibility.
  • Identifies and resolves program deficiencies.
  • Manages project schedules, develops engineering estimates, and tracks customer/project issues to drive resolutions.
  • Interfaces with customers during product development and acknowledges inquiries about complex systems.
  • Ensures compliance with industry regulations, develops product specifications, and provides technical support.
  • Creates and approves test plans, and ensures ISO process conformance.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Typically requires bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience and training.
  • Typically requires 8 years of industry experience.
  • Demonstrates advanced operational, technical, and interpersonal skills, effectively managing internal and external customer relationships.
  • Possesses deep expertise in complex functional areas and understands the strategic impact of these functions across multiple sites, mechanical engineering expertise is preferred.
  • Influences medium-term operational and financial success by approving and creating functional processes, and executing strategic plans for the site.
  • Defines and approves methods, standards, policies, and procedures, making decisions that impact multiple sections and sub-functions.
