Description of the Position: Quality Manager to provide leadership, direction, and oversight for Quality and Food Safety, including direct management of hourly employees within the warehouse. This position will manage the warehouse production area to deliver the required standards of quality and food safety, procedures, and practices as well as additional customer or regulatory requirements. Appointed by top management with the responsibility and authority to ensure that processes needed for the quality management and food safety system are established, implemented and maintained; reports to management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement; ensures the promotion of awareness of customer requirements and regulatory standards throughout the organization; possesses the organizational freedom to resolve matters pertaining to quality and food safety; maintain product/service conformity. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 3+ years related experience in a contract packaging environment with a need for experience in a warehouse or manufacturing background or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Must have strong knowledge of quality management practices, * Experience and/or familiarity with HACCP. Preferred with certification, FSMA, PCQI and GFSI (BRC, SQF, or FSSC 22000) and AIB Food quality and safety standards, * Understands and can apply food safety principles. * Proficient computer skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strengths and ability to work effectively with a team. * Be highly organized and committed to the effective management of deadlines. Responsibilities: * Execute and manage the Quality Management System according to Kane documented policies and procedures, meeting the requirements of regulatory food safety standards. * Review the Quality Management System, at planned intervals, to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness, including assessing opportunities for improvement and the need for system changes. * Serve as the site audit authority for all internal and external company and customer audits. * Serve as the site expert regarding quality assurance, food safety, regulatory requirements, customer requirements, and 3rd-party auditing agency standards. * Work directly with customers as required to understand, implement, and maintain customer quality standards. * Execute corrective and preventative actions including initiation and recommendation of authorizations; verifying the solutions have been implemented; managing further processing, release, or installation of nonconforming service, until the defect has been corrected. * Ensure that facility/departmental quality related training status and set-up is reviewed at the required frequency and the training requirements are met in a timely manner. * Implement Company quality and food safety initiatives at the facility as required. * Manage the Quality Assurance department and the Sanitation department employees and functions. * Oversee and manage the safety, environmental, and pest control programs and associated documentation. * Plan and coordinate all aspects of quality assurance activities. * Accommodate requests for support from site and communicate policies and procedures in support of the business. * Serves as a point of contact and subject matter expert for facility associates in matters involving the quality management system and applicable regulatory requirements. * Ensure compliance within area of responsibility and make recommendations for improving effectiveness of the quality management system. * Interact directly with contracted customer's quality resources to mutually support quality and regulatory requirements. * Investigate, act, and resolve customer and internal quality issues. * Ensure compliance within area of responsibility and make recommendations for improving effectiveness of the quality management system. * Develop presentations and recommendations for improvement opportunities regarding quality. * Prepares periodic reports on the status of quality compliance. * Develops procedures, forms, and documents to support quality functions and maintain site specific Quality Management System. * Conduct site specific Management Reviews and manage the CAPA program. * Responsible in obtaining and the maintenance of applicable certification (BRC, SQF, AIB, or FSSC 22000). * Demonstrates a positive attitude and teamwork in meeting goals and objectives. * Demonstrates commitment to process excellence by ensuring proper, efficient, and accurate use of the process. * Communicates well with leadership, team members and other departments.
