Pharmacy Resident - Full Time - Rotating shift

 

Join the hospital trusted by Chicago's Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, in this role as a Pharmacy Resident.

 

Job Summary:

Pharmacy Residents are registered pharmacists who are participating in a twelve-month clinical residency appointment with UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial.  Pharmacy Residents provide safe, effective, and optimal medication therapy to patients with a broad range of disease states.  They proficiently provide direct patient-centered care and integrated pharmacy operational services in a decentralized practice setting with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.  They also provide centralized pharmacy operations including order entry and verification, drug product checking, product compounding, and medication dispensing.  Pharmacy Residents participate in all necessary aspects of the medication-use system while providing comprehensive and individualized pharmaceutical care to the patients in their assigned areas.  Pharmaceutical care services include assessing patient needs, incorporating age and disease specific characteristics into drug therapy and patient education, adjusting care according to patient response, and providing clinical interventions to detect, mitigate, and prevent medication adverse events.  Pharmacy Residents serve as departmental resources and liaisons to other departments, hospital personnel, or external groups.  They proficiently manage and facilitate the appropriate use of medications according to professional and regulatory standards.

 

Education:

Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy required.

Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.  Registered Pharmacist in the State of Illinois or eligible.

 

Knowledge:

Understanding of contemporary hospital/clinical practice and service; and general hospital operations.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and support personnel.  Ability to integrate clinical and distributive pharmacy services with quality improvement, teaching, research, and professional development activities.

 

 

Certifications:

  •  Eligible for, or active, Illinois pharmacist license

Must comply with Ingalls Memorial Hospital's COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. This is in addition to your compliance with the Flu Vaccination requirement as well. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
