What are we looking for?

The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for supporting, implementing, and maintaining the quality system of the IH Laboratory. This position will also have a customer service component and require effective communication with lab personnel, field personnel, and clients. 

Shift/Schedule: Monday- Friday 9:30-6:00PM (Overtime and shift flexibility may be required on occasion)

What you'll do:

  • Generate and maintain Work Instructions (WI) and Technical Operating Procedures (TOP)
  • Maintain WI/TOP manuals and logs in each lab
  • Track and maintain accreditations, certifications, and licenses (e.g., AIHA, NVLAP, state-specific)
  • Manage proficiency testing submissions and regulatory renewals
  • Monitor new and updated regulations; ensure laboratory compliance with applicable standards
  • Assist with annual internal audits and the coordination of external audits
  • Review control charts and resolve out-of-control data trends
  • Identify and investigate systematic issues through root cause analysis
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions for nonconformances
  • Maintain master control charts, document logs, and quality forms
  • Collect and compile data for management review
  • Maintain laboratory equipment inventory and calibration documentation
  • Report generation, review, and issuance
  • Sample login and preparation as needed 
  • Administrative and Customer Service support

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Geology, or another physical/biological science
  • 1+ years of experience in a laboratory setting with exposure to quality assurance practices
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow SOPs
  • Familiarity with laboratory regulatory and accreditation requirements

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Environmental Laboratory experience
  • Experience with ISO 17025, AIHA, and/or NVLAP-accredited labs
  • Prior quality systems experience including audits, documentation/charting, and accreditation renewals
  • Familiarity with environmental sample analysis (mold, asbestos, metals)
  • Proficiency with LIMS or electronic document control systems
  • Customer service experience
