PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

  • The Application Developer is responsible for improving, designing, building, testing, producing, and implementing custom application programs in accordance with specified business needs throughout the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, integrate, and maintain custom applications.
  • Analyze business processes and data flow to create and expand on current internal applications.
  • Provide specialized assistance in the planning and development of new projects, conduct research, and recommend procedures for successful implementation.
  • Integrate custom developed applications with third-party systems.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain liaison with teams of end users throughout the organization to assess utilization, evaluate organizational needs, consider system enhancements, and identify implementation strategies and priorities.
  • Demonstrate sound time-management skills by effectively and efficiently organizing, prioritizing, and completing multiple assignments in a timely manner.
  • Provide training and operational assistance to enable a positive end-user experience with custom applications.
  • Monitor security of data to ensure integrity and reliability of computerized information.
  • Establish and carry out specific courses of action for self and/or groups by organizing and prioritizing tasks.
  • Solicit information from and work with outside venders when appropriate to identify improvements and opportunities within the scope of the position.
  • Communicate progress, technical issues, and resolutions to IT Director.
  • Ability to take decisive action in solving problems while exhibiting judgement and a systematic approach to decision making; to identify the important dimensions of a problem, determine potential causes, obtain relevant information, and specify alternate solutions that result in effectiveness.
  • Ability to create positive energy in both individuals and groups to build high morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
  • Be able to effectively communicate orally, in person and over the telephone, and in writing, using electronic devices and handwritten, with other employees and organizational contacts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities for this position.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is performed indoors.
  • This job operates in an office that is climate controlled and includes hazards typical to that environment. 
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

PHYSICALITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.  
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.    
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  
  • The employee must have the ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens.

 

 

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time, in office, position that will require a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Expected days and hours of operation include 8:00am – 5pm, Monday through Friday. 
  • Occasional evening hours and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 

TRAVEL.

  • No travel is required for this position.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BA in a related academic discipline (MIS, computer science, IT)plus 3+ years of successful related experience.  
  • Experience as an SQL programmer and administrator, SSRS development, C# and .NET platforms, MVC, HTML 5, API integrations, and web application development. 
  • Successful experience in analyzing business processes and data flow to create and expand on current internal applications and experience with integrating custom developed applications with third party systems is required.
