Description
The EP tech will assist the EP providers performing the loop recorder insertion, checking to make sure the device is functioning. In addition to the procedures, the EP tech would take on the the following responsibilities to bring the department up to standard of care and be more efficient than in the current state.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing all new and current loop recorder monitor tracings, which must be checked and reported every 30 days (community standard of care). The current 2 EP techs don't have the bandwidth to maintain the 30-day standard. Internalization will lead to increased volumes, which will put us even further behind.
- Managing any new alerts that come from our patient's devices. If a patient's device detects any malignant arrhythmias, such as Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia or device shocks, the standard of care is to address these alerts within 24 hours and provide direction to the patients.
- Performing interrogations and reprogramming as needed, on all types of pacemakers and implantable cardiac devices.
- Maintaining the device database
- Assisting with device recalls affecting Georgia region
- Assisting in interviewing and training staff and provides input into evaluations regarding clinical competence and provides coaching and counseling.
Education:
- Graduation from or completion of formal educational i.e., NP, PA, RN, LPN, CMA or Cardiac Device training program consisting of training and knowledge of cardiac rhythm management and device interrogation.
A minimum of two years on the job training and demonstrated proficiency in Cardiac Device Management may be substituted for the formal education training program.
Experience:
- Two years' experience in area of specialty.
- Two years in cardiovascular care.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in Cardiology and ability to collaborate with physicians.
Preferred License:
Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE)
