The Manager, Admitting oversees the daily operations of on-site, patient-facing registration staff in assigned areas. This role is responsible for managing workflows related to patient intake, consent processes, insurance verification, and financial counseling—ensuring optimal customer service delivery and compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements. The Manager-Admitting reports to the Senior Manager-Admitting and assumes their responsibilities in their absence. On-call availability is required for business operations.

Pay Transparency

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree Degree in a related field. Additional Education Requirements Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 3 years Supervisory/management experience in patient access department in an acute care setting. Minimum Skills: Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities. Working knowledge of managed care programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, CHAMPUS), including all related federal and state regulations and requirements. Knowledge of government and insurance payor admission and billing regulations, with the ability to learn and work with various computer software programs, as well as manage software projects (e.g., PBAR, PAS, GE Centricity, Cerner). Familiarity with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Experience in applying customer service techniques, ensuring staff compliance, and effectively resolving problems and complaints. Ability to evaluate staff performance to determine quality of work and identify training needs. Effective communication skills for interacting with a diverse range of individuals from various socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all personnel encountered during the course of duties. Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and registration standards. Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association - Within 30 days of hire. Management of Assaultive Behavior - MAB Within 6 months of hire. Preferred Education: Master's degree Degree in a related field.
