
Description
The Pharmacy Supervisor provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, clinical services and education for Pharmacy Services.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains pharmacy services in accordance with departmental standards and government laws and regulations.
- Supervises and monitors direct activities of the pharmacy technician and pharmacy intern.
- Responsible for organizing the daily activities of the staff.
- Organize prompt distribution of drugs by utilizing team approach.
- Participate actively in assessment and constant improvement of patient services.
- Prepares schedule in advance to give employees appropriate notification.
- Responsible for effective selection, orientation, and in-service training of technicians.
- Identify areas of employee performance improvement, effectively counsels, and takes appropriate corrective action when necessary.
- Provides effective performance feedback and completes annual performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Serves as a liaison between administration, clinical staff, and IT regarding medication management process.
- Incorporates lean methodology tools to improve operations in pharmacy.
- Facilitates training, installation, maintenance, and overall use of medication management tools (ie ADC, BCMA, Codonics, IV pump libraries where applicable in retention to automated workflow) throughout the organization.
- Develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the technology in pharmacy and to create new opportunities.
- Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and or resolve the problems.
- Participates in interdisciplinary committees as assigned.
- Accepts extra duties upon request and completes in a timely and high quality manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req Specialized/technical training Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
- Req 2 years Experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy.
- Req Personnel, project management and performance improvement experience.
- Req Organization/time management skills.
- Req Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
- Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.
- Req Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Req Able to function independently and as a member of a team.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Registered Pharmacist (CA DCA) Registration with California State Board of Pharmacy.
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
- Req Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association *Pharmacy Cost Center 7170 exempt from this requirement.
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only).
The annual base salary range for this position is $158,080.00 - $260,832.00.
