Description
The Coordinator is a Registered Nurse with recognized leadership abilities and sound clinical skills who will actively assist the Director and/or Manager in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the unit. The Coordinator takes a leading role in activities such as nursing performance improvement, job performance evaluations, staffing, scheduling and working with the directors in the orientation and training of new employees
Essential Duties:
- Understands & implements JACHO and Title 22 regulations
- Coordinates daily OR schedule in collaboration with Chief of Anesthesia
- Coordinates patient flow between Pre-Op/OR/PACU/Post-Op 2nd Stage
- Makes daily staffing assignments based on unit based competencies and makes meal/break assignments
- Promotes professional growth within department including inservices/ preparation & presentation
- Interviews new candidates for employment
- Tabulates daily / end of pay period Kronos/payroll
- Ensures timeliness of staff credentials/licenses/Annual Health Assessment
- Utilizes Samie Model for problem –solving and Performance Improvement within department
- Assists Director/Manager in completion of annual evaluations in a timely manner
- Performs counseling's as needed
- Assists in orienting new staff & preparing preceptor assignments
- Assists with implementing National Patient Safety Goals including Universal Protocol (time-out and correct site)
- Ensures Infection Control practice are followed
- Ensures hospital policy and procedure is followed
- Communicates information to all staff correctly
- Supervision of staff including ancillary personnel
- Delegates tasks to others based on: Scope of practice, preparation, capability
- Promotes positive role in leadership skills with staff
- Positive patient advocate and change agent
- Ensures that PI project reports are completed quarterly for Quality Assurance
- Perioperative exploration, and validation of current and future practice
- Collaboration and consultation
- Ensures equipment, instrument, and supplies are available, complete, and functioning and communicates with physician
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelor's Degree Nursing Degree in Nursing
- Req 1 year At least 1 year of acute inpatient hospital experience in the United States.
- Req Organization/time management skills.
- Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref 2 years Two year pre-post op experience preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing)
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
- Req Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Pref Critical Care Nursing Certificate - CCRN (AACN) CCRN or CPAN preferred
The hourly rate range for this position is $53.00 – $87.45.
