The Senior, Clinical Administrator (EHR) will be responsible for the implementation and management of clinical applications including but not limited to Point and Click Electronic Health Record in addition to various other devices in the Student Health clinical environment. The incumbent will need to work with outside vendors and a variety of clinical and administrative staff. This person will be highly knowledgeable in a wide variety of fields including but not limited to networking, hardware support, application support, EHR administration and clinical workflow. The Senior, Clinical Administrator (EHR) will is also be responsible for training of both clinical and technical staff and/or leading clinical systems projects. This position collaborates with IT leadership and clinical teams to ensure systems are aligned with healthcare workflows, organizational goals, and regulatory compliance, while also driving innovation in clinical technology solutions.

Essential Duties:

  • Work independently on complex system activities.
  • Independently interact with multiple clinical areas and assess current technology and workflow needs. Additionally communicate these needs to various members of IT.
  • Serve as a direct liaison with vendors when a problem has to be escalated. Responsible for all follow up communication and implementation of recommendations
  • Oversees and leads projects related to maintenance and support of systems applications.
  • Leads in design, contributing and implementing technical insights and ideas. Formulates project scope and objectives. Successfully troubleshoots applications problems independently.
  • Responsible for on-site user assistance with system navigation, and patient monitor issue.
  • Responsible for completion of a phase or component of projects
  • Contributes and leads the development of project plans, identifies key milestones, and raise critical project issues such as resource needs and contingencies.
  • Responsible to instruct, direct and review the work of Clinical Systems Administrators and/or project staff.
  • Work directly with users in defining new application requirements, and resolving project issues. Respond to user problems; explain new technologies, and present deliverables.
  • Build productive networks with internal and external customers and the vendor community.
  • Is a technical expert for department functions in relationship to implementing and managing responsible systems
  • Leads and trains technical and clinical staff.
  • Ability to fulfil On-Call requirements.
  • Provide advanced technical support for complex issues related to Point and Click (EHR) and other integrated systems.
  • effectively apply clinical information technology solutions to improve clinical operations
  • This position collaborates with IT leadership and clinical teams to ensure systems are aligned with healthcare workflows, organizational goals, and regulatory compliance, while also driving innovation in clinical technology solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High School or equivalent
  • Req Bachelor's Degree Degree in related field
  • Req 5-7 years experience including Electronic Health Record (preferably Point and Click EHR) software implementation, system design, documentation, maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Req Experience working in healthcare data standards (HL7) and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Req Experience managing system implementation, migration and upgrade projects.
  • Req Organization/time management skills.
  • Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.
  • Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.
  • Req Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Req Able to function independently and as a member of a team.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $95,680.00 - $158,230.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
