Applications Engineer (Buffalo, NY)
Our client, a leader in the Pure Water and Wastewater Industry, is currently hiring an Applications Engineer to support product team.  This role is an addition to staff a newly- created role this year due to growth. This individual is responsible to provide estimating services, manage proposal creation, and support the work of purchasing and inventory control, while continuously looking to enhance current processes, systems and standards.

This candidate should be able to blend technical expertise with interpersonal skills and be able to problem solve under pressure. Experience in the water and wastewater markets and or heavy industry is also a plus.

Position Responsibilities:
Perform initial review and annotate customer specifications as part of Request for Proposal (RFP) evaluation.
Communicate with customers to ensure winning scope is selected.
Drive project onboarding processes, constantly correspond with Process Engineering to select materials of construction, instruments, valves, equipment, and controls.
Evaluate bid specification packages against standards and strive to develop a strategic winning scope with clarifications and deviations, while also managing risk.
Compose P&IDs and run process projections (using various software).
Size and select system components.
Review commercial conditions and provide management with summary review.
Track response time and resource requirements to complete an estimate and make it available for future reference.
Complete accurate estimates efficiently, develop new and enhance estimating templates.
Interact with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to develop cost-effective, winning estimates.
Review historic information and work with team members to develop current actual costs and maintain a log for tracking performance of actual vs. estimate, percent wins, etc.
Develop estimates for standard products and services.
Utilize SAGE100/Job Ops manufacturing system.
Develop process work tickets and templates.
Develop standard work tickets and bills of material for product lines.
Assist in the standardization of materials and vendors.
Participate in meetings and special projects as required

Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering strongly preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience with estimating and/or project management, with a focus in chemical process treatment and system design. The right candidate willing to learn about wastewater, curious to learn about wastewater, may also be considered.
