Pharmaceutical Laboratory Technician- Somerset NJ

Summary of Essential Functions:
The Laboratory Technician supports the daily operations of the Analytical Services Laboratories, contributing to QC, Chemistry, Microbiology, and product development efforts. This role ensures a clean, organized, and well-supplied laboratory environment while performing standard lab functions and assisting in analytical activities under the direction of senior staff. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of Chemistry and Microbiology laboratories through routine housekeeping.
  • Carry and dispense laboratory reagents following proper safety procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of chemical solutions and product samples.
  • Clean laboratory glassware and ensure proper storage.
  • Handle and store chemicals in compliance with safety standards.
  • Receive and manage incoming media and reagents.
  • Perform standard analytical activities under supervision.
  • Maintain and restock inventory of laboratory consumables and supplies.
  • Conduct basic instrument calibrations as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory SOPs, GMP standards, and safety protocols.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Support additional laboratory tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of laboratory operations and safety practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Competence in basic math and reasoning.
  • Ability to work independently or under supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using office equipment and laboratory instruments.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Work is primarily performed in office and lab environments with low to moderate noise levels.
  • May occasionally be present in manufacturing areas with moderate to high noise levels.
  • Must wear required PPE (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, lab coats, steel-toed shoes).
  • Must be fit-tested for respirator use and trained in hazardous material handling.
  • Must follow all plant safety requirements and use fall prevention devices where necessary.
  • Work conditions may include controlled temperature and humidity settings, depending on product and process requirements.
