Position Title: Chemist
Location: Bradenton, FL
Shift: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm
Hourly Pay Rate: $23-$26 depending on experience

Job Summary:

The Chemist will conduct chemical, physical, and instrumental laboratory tests on solids, liquids, and gaseous materials for research and development, quality control, environmental compliance, and other purposes related to the application of chemistry and related sciences. This role involves testing raw materials and finished products, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor raw material and finished product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

  • Analyze organic or inorganic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions, using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques.

  • Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.

  • Compile, document, review, and interpret results of tests and analyses in order to provide accurate, precise, and timely reporting of conditions and results.

  • Send samples to contract laboratories and track testing progress.

  • Prepare chemical solutions for the analysis of raw materials and finished products following established methods or develop and verify methods as needed.

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments.

  • Maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment.

  • Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies.

  • Maintain familiarity and compliance with laboratory and company SOPs, cGMP compliance strategies, and safety policies.

  • Assess the identity, safety, potency, and overall quality of raw materials and finished products.

  • Review new raw materials in conjunction with Quality Assurance, Formulations, and Purchasing.

  • Set specifications for raw materials and finished products in conjunction with Quality Assurance.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Technical/Clerical and Administrative: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their practical applications to QC laboratory functions.

  • Chemical Properties: Understanding of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and the chemical processes and transformations they undergo, including the use of chemicals, their interactions, danger signs, and disposal methods.

  • Analytical Chemistry: Knowledge of chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques for isolating, identifying, and quantifying natural and artificial chemical compounds in their pure form and as part of complex matrices.

  • Laboratory Equipment: Understanding of instruments and equipment, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or higher is preferred. Applicable work experience may substitute for education.

  • Laboratory Experience: Experience in sampling and analyzing dietary supplements, raw materials, and finished products or similar laboratory experience desired.

  • Skills: Strong technical and analytical skills, with a keen understanding of laboratory processes, testing methods, and quality standards.
