Overview
This client is an industry-leading organization dedicated to advancing patient care through high-quality laboratory diagnostics.
In this role, you will play a vital part by conducting microbiological and general clinical tests, ensuring accurate and timely results to support patient care. You will also help develop and implement standard operating procedures, collaborate with healthcare providers, and maintain laboratory quality standards and equipment. Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological testing on clinical specimens to identify pathogens and assess antimicrobial susceptibility.
- Perform a wide range of clinical lab tests, including blood tests, urine analysis, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Develop protocols for infection prevention and outbreak investigation.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to communicate and interpret test results.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and OSHA standards.
- Develop and implement SOPs for microbiology testing and ensure timely procurement of lab supplies.
- Ensure laboratory meets quality assurance and proficiency testing requirements.
- Stay current on emerging pathogens and new diagnostic techniques.
- Collect, label, and process patient specimens per established protocols.
- Train new phlebotomists, technicians, and technologists in conjunction with the Laboratory Supervisor.
- Participate in research projects and support development of new testing methods.
- Maintain precise laboratory records and adhere to safety and infection control policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
- Eligible to test for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist; certification required within 2 years of employment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory work, including microbiology.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and electronic health records (EHR).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in microbiological techniques, such as culture, staining, and molecular diagnostics.
- Solid understanding of core clinical laboratory processes (pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical).
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex findings to non-specialists.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and biosecurity protocols.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with computer systems and software relevant to lab operations.
