CNC Machine Operator 

Location: Rochester, NY
Shift: A Shift (8-hour shift, start time as early as 5:00 AM)
Pay Rate: $20–$25/hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time Temp to HIre

Kelly Services is currently seeking a CNC Operator to join a well-established manufacturing team in the Rochester, NY area. This role is ideal for candidates early in their CNC career who are looking to grow their skills, as well as those with prior CNC experience.

Position Overview

The CNC Operator will safely operate CNC machines while producing high-quality parts in accordance with work instructions and specifications. This position works under direct supervision and offers opportunities to develop technical skills in a structured manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload parts, fixtures, and raw materials
  • Start and stop CNC programs as instructed
  • Perform basic in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Follow setup sheets, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Monitor machine performance and report issues to the lead or supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards)
  • Perform basic machine care, including chip removal and coolant checks
  • Accurately complete production and inspection documentation
  • Measure and enter data for SPC analysis and notify senior operators when action is required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Basic ability to read blueprints (dimensions and tolerances)
  • Familiarity with CNC terminology and machining processes
  • Experience using basic measuring tools
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Experience & Training
  • 0–1 year of CNC machining experience or relevant vocational/technical training
  • Previous CNC experience is a plus
  • Will work under close supervision with training provided
  • Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to loud noise levels and manufacturing materials
  • Required use of PPE including safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
