Kelly® Engineering is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer for a short-term, 3-month contract opportunity with a premier client supporting General Motors facilities in Flint and Bay City, Michigan. Overview
As an Automation Controls Engineer, you'll play a key role in analyzing and resolving automation issues, performing circuit modifications, and improving the performance of Rockwell-based control systems. This position involves close collaboration with engineering teams to identify issues, implement changes, and ensure all work meets technical and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for system and control-related issues.
- Modify and troubleshoot electrical circuits and perform customer-requested retrofit work.
- Identify and correct bugs in existing circuit designs to ensure optimal functionality.
- Follow detailed work instructions and provide clear reports on completed tasks and next steps.
- Support integration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of Rockwell Automation systems.
- Maintain adherence to GM and internal safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in automation, controls, or electrical engineering.
- Proficiency with Rockwell Automation (ControlLogix, Studio 5000, or RSLogix).
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams.
- Experience performing logical troubleshooting and system analysis.
- Ability to understand full system configurations and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Familiarity with GM engineering and safety standards preferred.
- Flexible to work on-site at either Flint or Bay City locations as required.
