Controls Systems Programmer (Contract to Direct)
Pay Range: $85,000 – $105,000
Location: Lewes, DE
Travel: Local to client sites with occasional overnight trips
Employment Type: Contract to Direct - Hybrid/Remote work schedule
Kelly Engineering is recruiting a skilled Controls Systems Programmer for a client in Lewes, DE—a respected Professional Engineering Firm and Systems Integrator with 25+ years of experience in the water, wastewater, and private industries. In this role, you'll program and integrate advanced control systems (PLC, OIT, HMI, Reporting, Alarming), support project execution through troubleshooting, technical guidance, and independently perform startup activities at client sites within a collaborative, employee- and client-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Program and integrate moderate to advanced control systems (PLC, OIT, HMI, Reporting, Alarming).
- Develop PLC, OIT, and SCADA system programs.
- Troubleshoot field control systems and resolve equipment/process issues.
- Conduct startup activities and compile standard reports for the Programming Manager.
- Interpret and review control panel/network drawings and I/O lists.
- Participate in quality control (QC) review of programming deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in PLC/OIT/HMI programming or related roles.
- Knowledge of I&C systems used in the water/wastewater industry is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text) and HMI software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and pay close attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with peers and clients.
- Proven ability to work independently to meet deadlines and stay within budget.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
