Kelly is seeking a Director of Compliance to work for our client, a multifaceted real estate firm based out of Braintree, on a direct hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join an organization that has earned a Top Places to Work in Braintree as well as an Employees' Choice award!

The Director of Compliance will:

  • Supervise 3-4 direct reports on the compliance team
  • Collaborate with senior management to encourage compliance and ethical behavior, providing professionalism and guidance to team members on affordable housing and fair housing practices
  • Develop and oversee compliance strategies to ensure alignment with laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Continuously assess and refine compliance processes to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Lead training initiatives to educate employees on affordable housing policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee internal audits and investigations into compliance breaches and take corrective actions as necessary
  • Work collaboratively with Operations and Accounting to coordinate the Annual File Review by external auditors for compliance requirements
  • Prepare, review, and present compliance reports to senior management, clients, investors and regulatory bodies, ensuring transparency and compliance
  • Stay updated with regulatory changes to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and industry standards
  • Identify and mitigate potential compliance risks across the organization
  • Review documents for each property to fully understand the regulatory framework and program restrictions within the portfolio and disseminate information timely and clearly to the team
  • Review and approve all applications and new move-in for assigned portfolio
  • Monitor completion of annual recertification in a timely and effective manner
  • Manage annual MOR Preparation and inspection of properties
  • Establish and maintain the procedure for the Field Compliance Team to review and approve any unit swap designations or unit transfer
  • Administer access and reporting for regulatory agencies
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
  • 8+ years in affordable housing compliance with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Deep understanding of HUD programs, LIHTC, Fair Housing laws, and affordable housing compliance processes
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and driving process improvements
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in affordable housing property management software
  • Ability to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Tax Credit Certification – SHCM or HCCP equivalent designation
  • Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) or equivalent designation
  • Fair Housing Certification
  • CPM (Certified Property Manager) or NAHMA credentials a plus
