Electro-Mechanical Start Up Technician – Laser Systems

Location: Farmington, CT
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $27.10–$42.00/hour

Position Overview

We are a hiring a Manufacturing Operator III – Laser Systems to support the assembly, start-up, and testing of advanced laser cutting machines. This hands-on role is ideal for technically skilled professionals who enjoy working with complex equipment and ensuring high-performance systems meet strict quality standards.

You will be a key contributor within a collaborative manufacturing environment that values precision, accountability, and continuous improvement, with opportunities for long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complete electrical and mechanical inspections to verify machines meet quality standards

  • Wire, start up, and test laser cutting systems for operational and cutting performance

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues

  • Assemble and test equipment using blueprints, schematics, drawings, and parts lists

  • Prepare fully approved machines for shipment

  • Work safely with high- and low-voltage electrical systems, pneumatic, and hydraulic circuits

  • Monitor and control product quality by ensuring test results meet allowable tolerances

  • Complete quality documentation and reports accurately and timely

  • Stay current with engineering changes and technical revisions (ECNs)

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

  • Support 5S, SYNCHRO, and Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) initiatives

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in machine assembly and equipment start-up

  • Strong knowledge of machine tools, electrical systems, and mechanical assemblies

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, technical documentation, and specifications

  • Experience working with high-voltage and low-voltage systems, as well as pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and software-controlled equipment

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technologies

  • Associate degree in Electronics or Mechatronics (required)
