Overview:

We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join the team. This role is crucial for the assembly, testing, and analysis of innovative water-based organic flow battery technology. The successful candidate will play a significant part in advancing our battery technology from lab-scale experiments to pilot-scale implementations and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers to design, build, operate, and disassemble flow battery prototypes at pilot scale.

  • Independently assemble and operate lab-scale flow battery prototypes.

  • Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, including battery testers, glove boxes, furnaces, etc.

  • Prepare solutions of flow battery reactants and electrolytes.

  • Conduct analysis of flow battery reactants, primarily using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).

  • Maintain and troubleshoot HPLC equipment.

  • Compile and analyze data to support the technical goals of the team.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

  • Document experimental procedures and data meticulously.

  • Communicate technical and non-technical information effectively.

  • Comply with all environmental health and safety (EH&S) requirements.

  • Contribute positively to a team environment and perform other duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field (Chemistry or related field preferred).

  • Minimum of 2-5 years relevant experience in a laboratory setting.

  • Experience with electrical and mechanical lab equipment.

  • Hands-on experience with operating and maintaining Agilent HPLC systems.

  • High attention to detail in handling samples and test data.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Agilent ChemStation.

  • Knowledge of laboratory best practices.

  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.

  • Reliable with a clear communication style and a strong desire to learn.

Desirable Additional Skills:

  • Experience with handling corrosive chemicals.

  • Background in battery assembly and testing.

  • Experience operating electric forklifts.
