Events Production Technician

POSITION SUMMARY
The position is onsite, full time, 40 hours per week, and will report to the Museum's Events Production and Programs Manager. The duration for this assignment is for one year, with the potential for extension.

SUMMARY

Supports and executes Event Production functions for events and for all museum properties, as needed.


Responsibilities (Essential functions denoted with *)

Audio* and Video

  • Prepare and set up audio and video requirement utilizing the systems available.
  • Provide a high level of sound and video mixing to satisfy the quality requirements of performers and audience as dictated.
  • Troubleshoot any audio and video challenge.
  • Make recommendations on sound and video equipment and systems upgrades.
  • Communicate and work with any additional sound and video crew either internal or external.
  • Understand audio and Dante and basic video transmission formats and line flow patching.
Lighting
  • Prepare and set up lighting requirement utilizing the systems available.
  • Provide a high level of lighting control programming (specifically in a grandma environment) to satisfy the quality requirements of performers and audience as dictated.
  • Troubleshoot any lighting challenge.
  • Make recommendations on lighting equipment and systems upgrades.
  • Communicate and work with any additional lighting crew either internal or external.
  • Understand basic lighting data transmission formats (DMX) and line flow patching.
Production
  • Prepare, set up, and coordinate stage decking systems as necessary.
  • Provide a high level of stagecraft (soft goods placement, rigging, truss work) to satisfy the quality requirements of performers and audience as dictated.
  • Make recommendations on stagecraft and systems upgrades.
  • Communicate and work with any additional crew either internal or external.
  • Strike all necessary production items into proper staging areas.
  • Work on any maintenance items with regards to all gear and equipment.
  • Operate a production intercom system.

General
  • Ensure that all auditorium and other event spaces equipment is in satisfactory working order and alert Events Production and Programs Manager and Events Production Lead Technician of needed repairs.
  • Work closely with Event Planners on assigned facility events regarding audio, visual and lighting systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality as to proprietary information received during set-up, rehearsals, etc.
  • Assist event sponsors with preparation for presentation adaptation to systems of materials needed for meetings and events.
  • Lead or support other tasks as directed.
     
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Five years' experience (including in live meeting support) and excellent knowledge of audio-visual systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in audio-visual or related field desired.
  • Grandma Lighting and Dante Certified desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Suite, including Power Point.

  • Adhere to all prescribed organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about, ascend/descend, and reach. The employee will frequently be required to remain in a stationary position and at times position oneself. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to distinguish color and adjust focus.

The individual is regularly required to move/transport up to 50 pounds.

RATE

$22 - $25 per hour
