Field Service Electrician (Erie, PA)
Our client, a metals manufacturer, is seeking a Direct Hire Field Electrical Service Technician (Industrial Electrician work, 60% travel). This role will be responsible for installing customer equipment and repairing issues with electrical equipment, including set up, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repair, and also optimization of electrical systems for industrial projects.
In this role, you will work on the electrical side of our industrial projects, follow safety protocols, interpret electrical schematics and blueprints, install equipment, and also complete other supportive electrical tasks as-needed.
Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues with electrical equipment. They will use diagnostic tools to find the root cause of an issue and then they use power hand tools to fix the issue. Tech. should have expert knowledge of electricity, as well as an aptitude for working with their hands.
On the subject of Travel-
Role is in-house, most of the time for service work parts that are shipped back, or servicing equipment for the shop. Travel to complete installs and repairs at Customer sites sometimes does happen, and, depending on which customers are buying and their location, travel may be overnight and up to 2-3 weeks at a time. If Customers are buying, Techs. are travelling. Most of it is regional with few flights needed, but sometimes business includes a massive install, on-site 4 weeks, home 2 weeks, on-site 4 weeks. This isn't the norm, but it'd be expected someone would be OK with it if it came up.
Duties and Tasks:
Read and understand electrical prints.
Use diagnostic tools to inspect and test equipment.
Identify and resolve electrical malfunctions.
Install electrical wiring, conduit and wire ways.
Troubleshoot PLC systems, standalone controllers and control elements.
Assemble and install industrial equipment.
Complete work in a timely manner with proper crew size and skill.
Work with crew to overcome challenges to keep the job on schedule.
Report daily progress to foreman.
Identify ways to improve efficiency.
Qualifications:
Electrician Diploma or equivalent certification.
3+ years of relevant experience with industrial electronics.
MS Office.
NFPA 86, NFPA 70E, AMS 2750E.
PLC programming.
Able to read electrical plans, schematics, and blueprints.
Combustion controls (not required).
Compensation: $30 to $40 per hour**
