Heavy Equipment Operator  Angleton TX
What will you be doing?
1. Operates any of the following types of equipment: backhoe, dragline, excavator, tractors,
and other related equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of drainage
structure and related facilities.
2. Constructs, slopes, grades, and shapes, drainage structures and systems; and sets culverts,
pipes, etc. in drainage systems as directed by the Manager.
3. Mows, and assists in the spraying of, drainage systems.
2. Checks, fuels and lubricates vehicles, performs light mechanical adjustments, and may
assist mechanic in performing repairs on assigned equipment.
3. May drive dump or service trucks.
4. May build and/or repair fence, water gaps, and bridges.
5. Clean ditches and culverts of brush, trash, etc.
6. Stand as flag man to direct traffic when necessary.
7. May assist other personnel when there is no need, or weather will not permit, for
equipment operation.
8. Perform other duties as required/directed by the Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough operational skills and knowledge of equipment.
  • Knowledge of drainage systems, methods and practices.
  • Ability to safely operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform manual work in varying weather conditions.
LICENSE:
  • Must posses a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License, Class A, along with air brakes and
  • combination vehicle or obtain a within 6 months of employment.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have at least 4 years' experience on heavy equipment such as dozers and excavators.
  • Construction of slopes, grades, and setting of culverts, pipes, etc., in drainage systems preferred
