Histotechnologist/Histotechnician I – Broomfield, CO

Kelly® Science & Clinical seeking a Histotechnologist/Histotechnician I for a full-time position at our state-of-the-art laboratory. Type: Contract to hire
Shift: M-F 8a-5p
Pay Rate: $25-$33/hr


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform immunohistochemical and routine histological procedures, including assay development.
  • Process, embed, section, and stain various specimen types (animal and human tissue).
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, embedding centers, and autostainers.
  • Keep thorough, accurate records of all laboratory procedures and ensure quality control standards.
  • Follow SOPs for all procedures, including annual review and documentation.
  • Perform routine and special stains as established by histology standards.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to efficient project completion.
  • Work collaboratively as part of project teams and participate in team meetings.
  • Assist with general lab upkeep and organization of work/storage spaces.
  • Complete at least 12 hours of continuing education annually, including required meetings.
  • Participate in cross training, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • HTL (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) Certification required.
  • 0–3 years' experience in animal and human histology, including embedding, sectioning, and staining.
  • Advanced understanding of human anatomy, cellular structure and function.
  • Strong lab skills: multitasking, troubleshooting, and quality control with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness and ability to complete continuing education and work overtime as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Life Science, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with fluorescent assays a plus.
  • Experience presenting scientific concepts in group settings.
  • Advanced knowledge of immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization assay development and troubleshooting.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Stand 6–8 hours/day; sit 2–4 hours/day.
  • Good visual acuity (color discrimination, depth perception, close vision).
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Primary work setting is a laboratory; exposure to chemicals, biological specimens, and occasional noise/vibration.
  • Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids; moderate stress level.
