Now Hiring: Human Resources Clerk
Position Type: Contract to Hire
Location: Waimea, Kaua'i
Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday - Friday)
Pay Rate: $21/hour
The Human Resources Clerk will provide essential HR support across the Kaua'i Region facilities. Reporting to the Regional Chief Human Resources Officer (RCHRO), this position performs a range of administrative, recordkeeping, and employee leave program functions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
Key Responsibilities Administrative Services (40%)- Process Employee Transaction Reports (ETR) for appointments, promotions, terminations, and other HR actions.
- Administer health benefits enrollment and provide advisory support to employees regarding eligibility and program rules.
- Provide technical and consultative assistance on HR laws, policies, and practices.
- Assist with employee onboarding and orientation, including benefits, safety protocols, and compliance training.
- Support the Workers' Compensation and Labor Relations processes as needed.
- Maintain position and personnel files, ensuring documentation is up-to-date.
- Track, distribute, and monitor Performance Appraisal Summaries (PAS).
- Review and process incoming job applications and assist applicants with questions about vacancies.
- Assist in managing and processing leave programs, including FMLA, TDI, Leave Share, and Workers' Compensation.
- Administer the Sick Leave Abuse Program, tracking patterns of absence and assisting managers with compliance.
- Provide administrative support to the HR team, assist with employee engagement initiatives, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and infection control standards.
- Support the organization's emergency preparedness efforts, participate in disaster drills, and contribute to staff development initiatives.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- General Office Experience: 1 year of progressively responsible clerical experience.
- Specialized HR Experience: 2 years of experience requiring knowledge of HR rules, regulations, and processes.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, recordkeeping, and benefits administration.
- Proficiency in arithmetic, office software, and effective communication in English.
- Ability to interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Possession of a valid Hawai'i Type 3 Driver's License is preferred.
- This position may require extended hours and frequent interruptions.
