Inside Sales Representative needed in Alsip, Illinois
$60K - $65K, based on experience

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Accountable for building relationships with customers and selling products/product applications or services to assigned accounts. Cultivate and grow new business with prospective and established customers by discussing applicable requirements along with opportunities and challenges. Take ownership of accounts and work closely with management to develop profitable business for the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The essential duties and responsibilities listed below are not all encompassing.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned consistent with business requirements.)

  • Review and become fully conversant on product information in our system in order to provide customers with an accurate, complete range of technical product specifications.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of inside sales territory accounts, forecasts, personnel, and purchase history.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the metals industry and understand opportunities and blue sheets within assigned accounts.
  • Build strong customer relationships and provide information and technical assistance to customers to help them make the best product choices for their specific applications.
  • Working closely with management and ensuring compliance with our pricing guidelines, respond or follow up on inbound sales calls/customer telephone inquiries concerning all Company products, processing services, pricing, and delivery options.
  • Provide verbal and written quotations negotiating order level pricing and order level freight terms where appropriate, determining inventory availability necessary to meet customer needs and notifying appropriate person(s) of low inventory levels. Troubleshoot problems and expedite solutions to achieve customer expectations.
  • Using our ERP system, enter customer orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Perform Customer Relations Management (CRM) lookups and participate in obtaining metric goals; conduct inventory research and tag history lookup.
  • Recommends buys to purchasing group and communicates with commercial and production personnel on customer wants and needs.
  • Manage open orders and backlog through available reporting and initiate and follow up on all customer claims.
  • Collect information from our CRM system to make outbound sales calls for the purpose of prospecting, expanding the customer base, and for marketing of additional products/product applications or services to existing or new customers.
  • Gain an understanding of ISO concepts and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) within our company.
  • Participate in Lean initiatives and be on the lookout for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • While position is office-based, work as an integral team member in conjunction with field sales staff to ensure a coordinated and effective regional sales effort and make occasional visits to customer locations to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis; and
  • Regular attendance at work is required.


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or an engineering-related discipline preferred.
  • Previous meaningful technical sales experience preferred (minimum of one year).
  • Ability to develop business to business telephone sales.
  • Metals industry experience desired.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills; must be self-motivated and results-driven in pursuing and achieving objectives; proficient with MS Office, MS Outlook, email and internet technology.
  • Must have good organizational and follow-up skills, and must be able to visit customer sites as needed.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team-based work environment and possess the ability to understand and work effectively with the specifications and applications of an extensive and technical product line.
