Lab Technician II – Irvine, CA

KellyBPO, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is seeking a Lab Technician II for a long-term position with one of our Global Clients based in Irvine, CA.

This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, 401k, and paid time off.

Pay: $28 hr minimum; plus benefits and PTO
Hours: M-F first shift
Duration: long term

Description: The Lab Technician II completes assignments related to product characterizations and will evaluate products to ensure conformity to engineering specifications and designs. Performs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical technician duties in such areas as engineering, and development where limited judgement is required. Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs standard tests methods and aids in developing new tests for product characterization evaluations.
  • Inspects/Tests devices after fabrication to ensure that they meet specifications using equipment such as but not limited to multimeters, micrometers, calipers, flow meters, pressure gages, tensile testers, and torques testers.
  • Ensures proper documentation of all evaluations and summarizes data for engineering review.
  • Proposes improvements to methods for inspecting, testing, and evaluating products.
  • Proposes improvements to tests and methods to locate, reproduce, identify, and analyze complex part failures.
  • Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical systems, and equipment.
  • Collaborates with other laboratory team members and engineers in diagnosis of technically challenging problems.
  • May analyze design, reliability, or yield issues to determine root cause of their failure.
  • Authors technical reports of findings, including probable cause of failures and provides recommendations to prevent failure recurrence.
  • Maintains Lab test tools, fixtures, and equipment. Interfaces with outside suppliers as needed.
  • May draw preliminary sketches and detail drawings for lab test fixtures and may build prototypes based of off sketches, drawings, verbal instruction and/or written instructions.
  • Assists in the purchase or design of test equipment that meets health, safety, and environmental standards set by the company.
  • Performs self-inspections of own work.
  • When applicable, follows standard operating procedures for all tasks.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area.
  • Responsible for completing all appropriate safety and environmental hazard training.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

  • Performs other duties assigned as needed

Minimum Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree GED
  • 2-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good written and oral English communication skills.
  • Ability to use test and measurement equipment associated with specific discipline.
  • Ability to use PC and associated software.
  • Ability to work from blueprints and engineering product specifications.
  • Ability to work with various engineers in the Research and Development environment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete company/department training courses.

Additional:
  • Additional Education/Experience - Implement company safety standards in respective department. Establish department safety objectives and monitor performance. Ensure prompt corrective action.
  • Additional Position Requirements - Employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
