Title: Lab Technician
Location: Cleveland, OH (Highland Heights)
Job Type: Contract (4+ Months)
Pay Rate: $35/HR

SUMMARY
Kelly Engineering is seeking a qualified Lab Technician for a position with our client in Cleveland, OH. This position is responsible for development, setup and execution of testing for a variety of end user tools used in automotive and industrial markets.  This includes testing of tool assemblies as well as individual electrical and mechanical component tests such as motors, gearing and electronic modules.  The position is also responsible for design and development of associated test equipment and test fixtures as well as mechanical and electrical component rework and repair.   Primary responsibilities will include developing test plans, test setup and execution and publishing of final lab reports.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of test plans based on specifications provided by design engineering
  • Identification, procurement and setup of required test hardware and fixturing.
  • Publishing lab reports which clearly present data and conclusions
  • Complete evaluations of failed tools returned for warranty analysis and determine root cause of failures
  • Simple rework of mechanical and electrical components including wiring and component replacement
  • Active team member for brainstorming and problem-solving sessions as necessary
  • Support transition of new parts, test equipment and fixtures from design to production phase including support of operations and quality as required
  • Assist in creating and revising engineering specifications under the guidance of design engineering
  • Effectively communicate status of active projects through regular status reports and assure timing metrics are met for all deliverables

REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience working in an engineering lab environment or equivalent experience to be determined by leadership
  • Experience in design and validation of mechanical and electrical components and associated test equipment
  • Testing and validation experience
  • Root Cause Analysis experience
  • 2d and 3D design principles
  • Experience with LabVIEW software for test development
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and design principles
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Strong computer skills

BONUS EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in design of complex mechanical/electrical systems
  • Design background with capability of completing simple fixture designs and drawings
