Location: Consumers Drive & Thickson Road South
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–8:30 PM
Compensation:
- Base Pay: $19/hr + Shift Differential: 8%
- Total Pay: $20.52/hr
Summary
Join our fast-paced, traditional laboratory environment where attention to detail, organization, and constant movement are key. You'll be responsible for ensuring a steady inventory of clean glassware and supporting documentation management, all while following strict safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Essential Functions
- Collect and sort laboratory glassware for washing according to established procedures.
- Operate laboratory glassware washers, dryers, and pipette washers.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of washing machines.
- Maintain detergent inventory and order replenishments as needed.
- Inspect glassware for cleanliness before restocking in labs.
- Manage inventory of glassware, stoppers, and cleaning supplies; initiate orders for shortages.
- Collect laboratory waste (liquids, syringes, vials) and properly dispose of according to protocols.
- Assist lab chemists as requested.
- Regular collection and coordination of waste removal, including empty reagent bottles, used syringes, filters, and vials.
- Monitor and maintain lab cleanliness.
- Digitize, store, photocopy, distribute, file, and archive laboratory documents.
- Manage off-site document storage, Notebooks, Logbooks, and associated databases.
- Support alternating or rotating shift work, as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma
- At least 1 year in a scientific/lab environment
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Strong oral and written communication
- Multi-tasking ability; detail-oriented; reliable
- Proficient in English
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for prolonged periods.
- Lift, carry, and move items (10-35 lbs; repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs).
- Dexterity for grasping, typing, operating lab equipment.
- Visual acuity and auditory ability for safe equipment operation and communication.
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses, shoes, lab coat, gloves, apron, and occasionally organic respirator.
