Job Title: Machinist
Location: El Dorado Hills
Work Shift: M-F 8am-5pm
Hourly Pay Rate: $23–$31
Shift Differential: $1.00/hour
Overtime: Occasional


Summary
Machinists are responsible for manufacturing parts for prototypes, spare parts, production parts, and repairs using various machining equipment. This role requires close collaboration with engineers during prototype development and the production of new and replacement parts. Machinists are also on call for emergency repairs and equipment breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities

  • Proficient with Heliarc, Arc, Mig, Flux Core, Stick, Gas welding; also skilled with brazing, silver soldering, and soft soldering.
  • Proficient in sheet metal manufacturing, including the use of shears, breaks, and other sheet metal tools.
  • Check part dimensions using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Determine operating methods and sequences; lay out, set up, and fabricate precision parts and fixtures.
  • Provide technical advice to internal departments; design, create, and repair plant equipment, including pumps, blowers, and large machinery.
  • Maintain and repair departmental equipment; keep work area clean.
  • Manufacture parts to specifications using complex shop calculations.
  • Manufacture prototypes in collaboration with designers and engineers.
  • Program and operate numerically-controlled equipment; operate manual mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, and grinders.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and measuring equipment to fabricate parts to precise specifications.
  • Work from blueprints, rough sketches, and/or verbal instructions to produce complex machined and fabricated components.

  • Attention to Detail: Able to conduct precise and thorough reviews, following processes with accuracy.
  • Decision Making: Makes sensible decisions based on available information, considering consequences and using appropriate authority.
  • Documentation: Skilled in interpreting and working with technical and training documents.
  • Equipment Operations Knowledge: Understands machinery operation, troubleshooting, and isolating failures.
  • Initiative: Works independently, seeks improvements, and takes on increasing responsibility with little supervision.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Able to work effectively in diverse group environments, respecting and building relationships with others.
  • Job Knowledge: Understands and applies industry standards, regulations, and requirements.
  • Mechanical Ability: Safe and competent use of a wide range of tools and machinery, with a strong mechanical aptitude.
