Kelly Services is currently looking to hire a Manufacturing Technician to work for one of our top Medical Device/Pharma clients on-site in Wilmington, Massachusetts for a temp-hire position!
Monday - Friday 5:45am - 2:30pm
Pay: 24.00/hr
Objectives/Purpose:
Perform a variety of machining, inspection and packaging operations relating to the manufacture of contact lens materials. Assume a hands-on role in accountability for facets of the business that facilitate smooth, uninterrupted production flow; safe use of equipment and chemicals; and crisp and accurate training and documentation.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
- Performs complex machining, inspection and packaging operations in an OSHA/FDA/ISO/EH&S regulated environment requiring eye, hand, auditory and respiratory protection. Multi-tasking capabilities are essential in order to efficiently drive many varied processes simultaneously.
- Advocate LEAN initiatives (Kanban) and support LEAN concepts (5S) as they apply throughout the organization.
- Monitor product flow, velocity and yields among other metrics. Monitor, record and report any unusual problems to Mfg. Group Leader.
- With little direct supervision, work collaboratively with the other technicians in order to equitably divide daily tasks. Technician is encouraged to act autonomously when confident actions are appropriate and correct. As expected, questions will arise which should be answered and resolved collaboratively with a more senior technician and/or supervisor.
- Prepared and ready to offer observations to peers and supervisor regarding the scheduling and flow of product based on chemical characteristics (i.e. expiry dates), mechanical constraints, shipment schedule, etc.
- As skills allow, identify and clearly communicate ideas related to improving the manufacturing processes, documentation, workflow, equipment, methods, etc.
Qualifications/Training:
- Manufacturing experience with expertise in machining, inspection, and packaging operations.
- Strong machine shop/mechanical background preferred. Experience working with/operating CNC lathes, grinders, and other types of processing equipment.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
- Accurate recordkeeping skills.
- Good basic math skills/computer proficiency
- Understanding of GMP/ISO requirements pertaining to manufacturing operations.
- Prior experience with a medical device manufacturing organization preferred.
