Material Characterization Scientist
Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group has an opening for a Materials Characterization Scientist for a long-term engagement at one of our Global medical device clients in Jacksonville, Florida. The role is eligible for medical benefits, paid time off including vacation (PTO), paid holidays, 401K, and annual performance reviews.
Schedule: On-site Monday through Friday day shift
Pay: Depending on experience
Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis of lenses using techniques such as refractive index, mechanical properties, contact angle, FTIR, absorbance/transmission, optical density, gravimetric water content, surface roughness AFM, pervaporation DVS, and oxygen permeability.
- Perform visual inspections using microscopy techniques.
- Develop and transfer additional test methods and instrumentation to support the evaluation of physical properties in new products/formulations.
- Execute testing per protocol requirements to support method validations.
- Test routine solutions including pH, conductivity, and osmolality using USP or validated test methods.
- Verify and calibrate instruments as needed.
- Maintain and test competitor inventory, entering and compiling data to build a master database.
- Assist with the upkeep of calibration status of components and manage system change requests.
- Support qualification of new instrumentation.
- Engage in guided development of methods under the direction of senior personnel based on workload and capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in using advanced analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow validated test methods.
- Excellent data management and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
