Position: Material Handling Specialist – Smart Factory
Location: Farmington, CT 06032
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay Range: $19.00/hour (Based on experience)
Type: Temp-to-Hire

About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable, tech-savvy Material Handling Specialist to support our Smart Factory Sheet Metal Fabrication team. This is a brand-new role designed to ensure smooth, efficient material movement throughout the production floor.

As a key member of the operations team, you'll be responsible for managing and tracking all material flow between workstations—ensuring jobs are delivered accurately and on time to support high-performance manufacturing. This role is ideal for someone hands-on, organized, and eager to grow in a cutting-edge production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all material movements across the Smart Factory production floor

  • Load and unload materials using electric pallet jacks, forklifts, or overhead cranes (training provided if needed)

  • Accurately track material flow and inventory using SAP, Oseon, or similar systems

  • Identify, group, and supply workstations with correct jobs based on production priorities

  • Assign and complete movement paperwork and digital records

  • Support adjacent areas as needed—hanging parts in the paint room, prepping for welding or painting, assisting with bending operations

  • Monitor and maintain workstations with the proper tools and materials

  • Assist in determining production sequencing and providing feedback through internal systems

Cross-Training Opportunities (as needed):

  • Deburr or clean fabricated parts

  • Perform basic part inspections using drawings and measuring tools

  • Assist with painting or prepping components for finishing

  • Support welding team with prep work or basic tasks

  • Contribute to machine setup or equipment operation

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling role preferred

  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and operating material handling equipment (pallet jack, forklift, crane)

  • Basic computer skills required—experience with inventory or ERP systems (SAP or Oseon) is a strong plus

  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work collaboratively

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assist in multiple areas of the production process
