Overview
This Bradenton-based client has been a leader in the marine trailer manufacturing industry since 1974. Known for their high-performance, custom all-welded trailers, the company serves recreational, commercial, government, and military clients nationwide.

They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their on-site team and contribute to the design and engineering of custom boat trailers and transporters, ensuring safety, durability, and optimal towing performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze trailer weight and balance for optimal load distribution.
  • Design and engineer custom trailers based on specifications and test data in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).
  • Evaluate boat hull designs to determine hull support and towing requirements.
  • Review new customer requirements and assess feasibility of custom builds.
  • Generate detailed designs and cut lists using 3D modeling and drafting software.
  • Source materials, equipment, and components when necessary.
  • Drive product improvements through design innovation and engineering enhancements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in mechanical, marine, or naval architecture roles.
  • Industry background in trailers, automotive, marine, or heavy equipment strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with engineering/design software such as KeyCreator, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Experience with FARO SCENE and Geomagic Wrap is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; must demonstrate intermediate skills in pivot tables and lookups (advanced skills in VBA/macros are a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset and willingness to support cross-functional initiatives.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Willingness to relocate or commute daily to Bradenton, FL 
  • Ability to travel occasionally (<10%).
