Mechanical Designer
 
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Designer for a direct-hire position with a consumer products company located Palatine. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.  

Overview 
 
In this role you will be part of the R&D team where you will support both current and new product development projects. You will produce mechanical designs & technical drawings for mechanical components & systems for products

Responsibilities:

  • Work cross functionally with engineering & manufacturing team to develop Solidworks design solutions that meet product requirements and manufacturing specifications.
  • Use Solidworks for 3D solid modeling, creating drawings of product prototypes, tooling for productions. assembly drawings, and production drawings.
  • Engineering analysis and simulation work.
  • Create technical drawings that can be manufactured using the following processes injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Add tolerances that are critical to function and determine quality parameters (DFMEA).
  • Support prototype development and testing activities including tolerance analysis & part measurement to assist engineering in validating part performance against requirement.
  • Attend & contribute to design reviews.
  • Attend supplier review meetings & maintain appropriate CAD documentation changes
  • Provide design solutions that are cost effective and meet project requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in engineering/CAD or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of the consumer product development project stages
  • Solidworks proficiency required, CSWA/P a plus
  • Minimum 3+ years mechanical design experience with strong background in product design with DFM skills in metal fabrication/welding, injection molding, electromechanical assembly
  • GD&T and tolerance analysis required.
  • Tool or fixture design for welding or stamping a plus
