What's a typical day as a Data Entry Billing Clerk might look like:

Position Summary:
              • The Data Entry Clerk (Billing Assistant I) position is primarily responsible for data entry of patient demographics, insurance information, ordering physician and diagnosis codes into the BOE application.
              • Speed and accuracy are required and monitored on a weekly and monthly basis.

Responsibilities:
              • Responsible for data entry of patient information from requisition order into BOE application
              • Responsible for working Saturdays and possibly the last Sunday of the month
              • Responsible for batch scanning of paper documents to facilitate uploading into document management system
              • Responsible for verifying patient insurance benefits using various web-based tools and websites
              • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
              • High school education, some college preferred
              • MUST be able to pass the following tests:
  • Ten Key Zip Code Test (10 numeric keys) 10,000 KPH required
  • Typing Test 45-50 WPM required
              • Proficient in the use of computers and common office equipment
              • Must be energetic, dependable with good attendance and have excellent customer service skills
              • Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and ownership of assigned work

Specific Job Functions:
              • Keying testing requisitions
              • Coding
              • Verification

Physical Requirements:
              • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time; reaching, lifting 30 lbs unassisted and climbing flights of stairs are required
              • Organize the matching of invoices, scanning and sending to corporate
              • Communicate, read, count and write
              • Work varied hours and days, including weekends, as business dictates.
              • Required to work the last weekend of every month to ensure month-end business needs are met.
              • Must pass a background check and drug screening
