Job Title: Mechanical Planner
Purpose:
This position is critical to the maintenance team's ability to drive value generation through accurate job estimation, job planning, and turnaround planning of maintenance-related work scope.
Overview:
The Maintenance Mechanical Planner must be experienced in maintenance job planning and turnaround planning, with skills and knowledge to create a comprehensive job package from the work order scope. The job package includes all information about required resources—including Labor, Materials, Tools, Equipment, Services—and cost estimates necessary to ensure safe, effective, and efficient execution of the work, including major turnarounds and shutdowns.
Responsibilities:
- Drive assigned Maintenance Field and Turnaround Planning Activities to achieve maximum value for the business.
- Lead turnaround and shutdown planning, including job scoping, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination across departments.
- Conduct field visits and walk down jobs with plant personnel to ensure completeness and accuracy of scope.
- Identify/document all tasks & activities necessary to execute job and turnaround plans.
- Identify/solicit safety information and requirements for performing job and turnaround tasks.
- Gather all specific procedures and the plant's "Most Effective Technology” (MET) documents relevant to the job or turnaround to include in job packages.
- Prepare job plans and job packages per specified scope, including Labor, tools, equipment, materials, services, and costs required to complete work and turnaround activities.
- Input job and turnaround plans into SAP, indicating required resources, materials, and services.
- Utilize other information technology tools such as Adept, EDMS, and MOC to optimize the planning process.
- Initiate improvements in planning processes/tools and mentor team members on these enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective turnaround execution and resolve planning issues.
- Track progress, report performance, and adjust plans during turnaround execution as needed.
- Previous experience in maintenance, shutdown, and/or project environments.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Current, valid US driver's license.
- Strong understanding of Mechanical craft skill sets and their application in job and turnaround tasks.
- Willing to adhere to all safety standards, including the smoke-free, tobacco-free, and drug-free workplace policy.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Strong multi-tasking, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
- Self-starter capable of identifying, prioritizing, and accomplishing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively within an empowered team environment.
