Description

Ready, set, go!
Put your career in motion with a meaningful opportunity. Join the State of Arizona's Arizona Department of Veterans' Services (ADVS) as an Outreach Specialist supporting the Homes to Heroes Initiative, a statewide mission dedicated to ending veteran homelessness.

Why you should apply to be an Outreach Specialist:
? Location: Remote — Must reside in and travel throughout Maricopa County, AZ
? Pay Rate: $40 per hour
? Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours per week (Flexible: 6 AM – 7 PM)
? Employment Type: Project-Based (7-month duration)

? What's a typical day as an Outreach Specialist? You will:

  • Conduct targeted outreach to build relationships with community partners, service providers, government agencies, and veterans across Maricopa County.

  • Facilitate virtual and in-person meetings—both individual and group—to gather insights on best practices, service gaps, needs, and challenges in veteran homelessness.

  • Compile and maintain a comprehensive list of local community resources not currently included in statewide databases.

  • Collaborate with the program coordinator and data analyst to support development of a unified, data-driven plan to end veteran homelessness in the region.

  • Use social media and digital platforms to increase outreach visibility, engagement, and resource awareness.

  • Attend virtual team meetings and maintain clear, consistent communication with leadership and project stakeholders.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:

  • At least 1 year of experience in community outreach or a related field.

  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and meeting facilitation skills.

  • A solid understanding of best practices in homeless services and veteran support.

  • Familiarity with federal housing programs such as HUD-VASH, SSVF, and GPD.

  • Experience using social media, digital outreach tools, and virtual meeting platforms.

  • Comfort with basic data analysis and program evaluation concepts.

  • Residency in Maricopa County, with the ability to travel throughout the region.

Why you'll love working with us:

  • Flexible work schedule (work anytime between 6 AM and 7 PM).

  • Opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of veterans and their families.

  • Meaningful, mission-driven project work with a statewide vision.

  • Collaboration with leaders across federal, state, and local agencies.

What happens next:
Once you apply, an ADVS program lead will review your background and reach out if your experience aligns with the initiative's needs. Even if this role isn't the perfect fit, joining the network supports future opportunities within Arizona's veteran service programs.

Helping veterans thrive is at the heart of what we do—join the mission and help move Arizona's veterans from homelessness to housing.
