Job Title: Process Technician
Location: Granville, OH 43023
Shift: 7am - 3pm, Monday through Friday
Contract: 2 years
Pay rate: $25ph
Interview: Phone Screen, Contenders to be invited onsite
The contract technician position actively participates on teams that deliver technical solutions significantly impacting the residential roofing business. This role contributes to the business's success by operating the shingle prototype line, developing process equipment, and conducting product tests on projects designed to improve the quality and productivity of our roofing operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates a commitment to safety in every aspect of work
- Works safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments
- Identifies and corrects hazards; ensures rigorous compliance with OC safety procedures and policies
- Practices good housekeeping habits and participates fully in site safety initiatives
- Collaborates with engineers, scientists, and team members to operate the shingle pilot line and deliver project goals
- Prepares equipment and raw materials and is comfortable with carrying and lifting 30 lbs
- Quickly troubleshoots equipment or process issues, proactively resolving problems to minimize downtime
- Assists with assembly and modification of process and equipment prototypes
- Runs prototype testing and evaluation in partnership with engineers, conducting routine and non-routine shingle testing
- Documents observations, inputs test results into LIMs data system, and maintains thorough records
- Cleans and maintains equipment, ensuring readiness for ongoing and future testing
- Performs hazard assessments for non-routine tasks
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity
Metrics
- Actively contributes to Near Miss tracking system and documents hazard eliminations
- Performs non-routine task hazard assessments
- Safely and consistently completes operational tasks on the pilot line
- Assembles quality prototypes meeting engineers' requirements
- Test deliverables meet Quality Requirements and Standards
Must haves:
- Manufacturing and/or quality control experience – background in manufacturing operations or quality assurance processes
- Mechanically inclined – experienced using hand tools (sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers)
- Self-sufficient – works with little to no supervision
- Strong collaboration skills – able to work effectively with team members and cross-functional partners
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities – quickly and efficiently identify and resolve technical issues
- Safety focused – consistently prioritizes safe work practices in all aspects of the role
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills – able to analyse situations, develop solutions, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Nice to have:
- Previous forklift experience, or a willingness to be trained and certified to operate a forklift
Experience and Knowledge Requirements
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Hands-on aptitude with mechanical equipment
- Troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing and laboratory environment
- Must be comfortable using a computer; working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
