PV&V Electrification Test Engineer (NO C2C OR THIRD PARTY)

 

  • Location: Fargo, North Dakota ( 58102)
  • Duration: 12+ month contract until 2/2026 (contract extension potential OR internal hire possibilities)
  • Type: W2 contract (NO C2C OR THIRD PARTY)
  • Pay: Negotiable depending on direct-related experience
  • Work Authorization: Must be currently in the United States with active employment authorization documents. Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the near future, for this position.

 

Job Summary:

Test engineer, this worker will need to understand how to use lab equipment and analyze data. This person will work with a cross-functional design team, particularly in power electronics to determine testing requirements for John Deere and OEM products.

This person will perform, with some assistance, test procedures, motor characterization, battery testing JDQ tests and reports.

 

Duties:
  • Gather and format test requirements from internal and external customers with assistance from others. Review and provide proper feedback about the requirements.
  • Perform and oversee, with assistance, the performance of power electronic Product Verification and Validation testing performed internally or externally.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of testing results and schedule progress. Communicate results and schedule progress to internal and external customers.
  • Employ troubleshooting and debugging strategies; determine root cause with support from others and provide support in troubleshooting.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Work closely with other project team members as needed to ensure the testing is performed as specified in the product specifications.
  • Travel as needed to accomplish the tasks required of this position, including meeting with customers to generate and/or revise concepts and product requirements. (Travel could be 1 or 2 times a year and would always be in the USA. No international travel. )

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

Desired:

  • Experience with product development
  • Understanding of motor control software (PU2)
  • Experience with dynos
  • Experience with development and debugging tools (e.g. oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.)
  • Experience with microcontroller peripherals and systems (e.g. PWM outputs, boot loaders, A/D converters, serial and parallel interfaces, etc.)
  • Experience with communication networks (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/485, etc.)
  • Experience with communication protocols (e.g. J1939, ISO11783, TCP/IP, etc.)

 

REQUIRED:

Education:

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Ag Engineering, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited engineering program or equivalent.


Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of the basics of embedded controllers
  • Understanding of safe higher voltage practices
  • Understanding of motor control and system testing
  • Understanding of the basics of design validation
  • Good written and verbal communications skills (English)
