Quality Control Technician
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Quality Control Technician for a full-time, direct-hire position at an iconic 100-year-old brand client in Portland, OR. Overview
This client is an industry-leading food production company focused on ensuring the highest standards in food safety and quality. In this role, you'll be working with dedicated laboratory and quality assurance teams to oversee the microbiological and chemical testing of our products and production facilities. This role will give you an opportunity to develop your expertise in food safety, while contributing to the production of safe, high-quality food products for our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure production of safe, quality, and legal food.
- Conduct pre-operation sanitation inspections and tests.
- Conduct allergen inspections and testing.
- Perform aseptic product sampling and environmental sampling.
- Execute analytical microbiological bench procedures on raw, finished products, and environmental samples.
- Perform microbiological quantification procedures.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Report laboratory results to our Food Safety Team.
- Generate and report Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
- Complete bench work and report results promptly.
- Maintain laboratory quality records.
- Inspect incoming raw materials and packaging.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and business ethics.
- Work cooperatively with management colleagues.
- Maintain a clean and neat work area.
- Contribute to the development of written laboratory policies and procedures.
- Issue comprehensive deviation reports to the Quality Manager and Food Safety Team.
- Maintain calibration and conduct maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
- Participate in internal inspections.
- Maintain laboratory proficiency qualifications.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of our HACCP program.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Effective communication skills with management colleagues.
- Proficiency in computer/data entry and basic Microsoft Office products.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within the food industry preferred.
- Ability to pass/maintain FSCPA certification and HACCP training.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
