Position Title: Scientist
Position Type: One-year contract
Pay rate: $30-$35 / hour
Overview and Responsibilities
This position is part of the Biochip Research and Development Team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands on experinece with PCR and RT-PCR.
- Plan and execute laboratory research related to PCR and RT-PCR assay development.
- Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in infectious disease field and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to achieve project goals.
- Utilize innovative technology to develop strategies for complex in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays.
- Gain experinece working in a BSL-2 environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Genetics) with 0-1 years of relevant industrial experience.
- Knowledge of molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, and RT-qPCR, etc.
- Hands-on experience in microbiology techniques involving culturing, isolation, and aseptic technique.
- Ability to work safely with basic laboratory instrumentation, and computer-based application utilized in a laboratory environment.
- Maintaining detailed experimental records and documents results in a technical report in a laboratory notebook.
- Analyzing data using statistical tools such as Microsoft Excel or Minitab.
- Presenting data at internal technical meetings.
Preferred Requirements:
- Handling microbiological and clinical specimens and working in a BSL-2 environment.
- Optimizing Real time PCR or ddPCR.
